Worst I can think of is twisting my knee up on the football field.

If this was a thread about emotional pain though I could say a lot right now.....

How about you SoCal?

Ive been fortunate. Tearing ligaments in my ankle has been the worst of it. As far as physical pain goes at least.

Emotional pain? Well... That is a whole different topic. It hurts worst in most cases. And it lingers longer...

I know emotional pain is a whole different ballgame. Some of us are off the charts with those experiences.

Physically, for me... it was earlier this year when I snapped the head of my femur off (broken hip) while skiiing. Ski patrol getting me down the mountain (I'm 6'7", 280 lbs) was almost an out of body experience. Once loaded into the ambulance, the main roads were out, so we had to take the most winding road I have ever been on in my life. 45 minute ride to the hospital with what seemed to be 90 degree turns every 30 seconds. It was almost comical in a way. I was screaming expletives the whole ride while they were on the phone with the ER trying to get authorization for mega doses of morphine. 5 days in hospital after surgery. Pretty knarly stuff, but I'm sure some Rxers have me beat ala the scar scene in Jaws.

compound fracture/shattered my right ankle playing football when I was in high school. bones coming out of the skin all that good stuff. They actually knocked me before i went for xrays and i woke up with a giant cast that went up to my crotch. I thought it was done, but they told me they only did that while they were figuring out how they were going to operate on my ankle the next day. Anyways 3 weeks or so after that i feel down a flight of stairs while on crutches and fractured my other ankle.

Fractured rib has to be up there for me. I'm good at hurting myself and have shook off most broken bones without too much pain but I could barely breath with the rib.

about 10, swimming at the local creek....there was this bridge everyone jumped off of, about 30 feet high off the water....when i jumped, i held my arms straight out....the water slapping my forearms when i landed hurt pretty bad and i cried like a bitch in front of the ladies....although i did get my first real life glimpse of camel toe as my friend's mom squatted to look at my arms....also one of my first erections but that's a tale for another day

Had a procdure done last year called a discectomy on my L3 in the lower back. Disc was shaved down off the cyatic nerve.

Had to take a wheelchair out and made my wife drive about 30 all the way home due to hitting bumps in the road etc. Couldn't shower, take a shit or anything for a few days. Just stayed in bed and rolled over every hour or so.

It's easily the worst pain I've experienced in my life.

I can relate to that with my busted hip experience. Oxycontin 2x a day along with percocet every 4 hrs is the only way I got thru it myself.

Kidney stones , [no pain meds] that brought me to my knees to crawl on the floor to the bathroom , as all i did was drink a ton of water to try & pass it which i finally did after about 4 hrs. of agony. There is probably worse pain, but for me that was it,lol.

Hard to remember now but I was burned on my right hand when our Huey UH-1 Slick went down during a search and rescue mission in the Da Nang area of central Vietnam. Climbing out of the not so badly damaged but done for Slick which is a lightly armed version of the Huey used for troop movement and search and rescue. Huey Slicks carried no gun pods but did have a door gunner for protection mainly.

I fell against part of the side of the aircraft while evacuating the wrecked chopper and burned my hand on the red hot fuselage. Ouch but all things considered not much of anything compared to what was always going on in that mess of a war.

I recall it hurt quite a bit like all burns. Of course is was over 40 years ago and the memory of how much it hurt has faded. I still have scar tissue on the back of my right hand. Compared to some of the wounds I saw during the conflict it was like a paper cut though. A little burn ointment and a bandage and it was fine.

Always been lucky when it came to breaking bones. None during my entire life.

wil.
